INJACK was officially inaugurated on March 13, 2014, by His Excellency Mr. Takeshi Yagi, Ambassador of Japan to India. The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests from both India and Japan, including Mr. Mitsuhiro Nishimura, Chairman of Mona Ltd., Japan, and Mr. Tomofumi Fukamiya, First Secretary at the Japanese Embassy.
By March 2015, INJACK had 92 members, including founder members, associate members, institutional members, and honorary members.

INJACK signed an MoU with the Sanin India Association and coordinated a visit by a research delegation from Sanko Co. and Everyplan Co. Ltd. to explore the establishment of a solid waste treatment plant in Kerala.
INJACK organized the Kerala B2B event “Vyapar 2017,” which featured participation from the Sanin India Association and several Japanese companies.

A high-level delegation led by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited Japan to explore opportunities for economic and technological cooperation in sectors such as tourism, education, food processing, waste management, and fisheries.
Government Recognition: The Government of Kerala recognized INJACK as the nodal agency for facilitating business between Kerala and Japan. Global Ruby Training Centre (GRTC): INJACK inaugurated the GRTC at Nippon Kerala Centre, with Mr. Yukihiro Matsumoto, the creator of the Ruby programming language, attending the event. INJACK organized a Business delegation to Japan in October of 2024
The first Japan Mela was held in Kochi, attracting over 2 lakh visitors and showcasing Japanese products and services. The event included a B2B conclave with over 250 participants.
The second Japan Mela was held from March 2–4, 2023, at Ramada Resorts, Kochi. The event was inaugurated by Kerala’s Minister for Industries, Law, and Coir, Mr. P. Rajeev. The Mela featured panel discussions on a wide range of topics, including spices, tourism, wellness, human resources, education, medical technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, seafood, and infrastructure.
INJACK organized its first Online Business Forum between Kerala and Japan, focusing on business matchmaking and collaboration opportunities. The second Online Business Forum was held on November 16, 2021, with the support of the Government of Kerala and Japanese organizations. The forum focused on sectors such as lithium battery manufacturing, non-conventional power generation, and coir product exports.
INJACK explored collaborations for onboard processing of tuna under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and discussed the possibility of producing Sake (Japanese rice wine) in Kerala. These initiatives were taken up with the Kerala government and other agencies.
INJACK supported a business delegation to Japan in mid-August 2023. The delegation aimed to understand the Japanese market, meet business prospects, and explore collaboration opportunities in various sectors.
H.E. Mr. Taga Masayuki, Consul General of Japan in Chennai, visited INJACK member organizations, including Cochin Shipyard Ltd, Synthite Industries, and Samudra Shipyard. The discussions covered various aspects of Indo-Japanese business collaboration.
INJACK organized the Indo-Japan Business Conclave, which was inaugurated by the Japanese Ambassador to India, Kenji Hiramatsu. The event featured discussions on investment opportunities in Kerala.
INJACK organized an interactive session with Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament, on India’s socio-economic situation.
The Governing Council of INJACK has been led by prominent figures such as Dr. Viju Jacob (Hon. President), Dr. S Jeevan (Hon. Secretary) and CA. Jacob Kovoor (Hon. Treasurer). The council has played a pivotal role in guiding INJACK’s activities and ensuring the successful execution of its initiatives.
